SAT

The SAT is a 3-hour-and-45-minute test that measures the critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills that students need to do college-level work. Nearly every college in America accepts the SAT as a part of its admissions process. That's why more than two million students take the SAT every year. Most students take the SAT during their junior or senior year in high school.

For a list of test dates, view the 2011-2012 SAT Test Dates and Registration Deadlines.

For more information including SAT Preparation Resources, test dates and fees, and registration information, please visit the College Board SAT website.

PSAT/NMSQT

ACT

The ACT is America's most widely accepted college entrance exam. It assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skills in planning and writing a short essay.

For a list of test dates, view the 2011-2012 ACT Test Calendar.

For more information about the ACT including test preparation resources, test dates and fees, and registration information, please visit the ACT Student website or the ACT Parent website.

PLAN

The PLAN® program helps 10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success and provides information needed to address school districts' high-priority issues. It is a comprehensive guidance resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years.

PLAN can help all students—those who are college-bound as well as those who are likely to enter the workforce directly after high school.

As a "pre-ACT" test, PLAN is a powerful predictor of success on the ACT. At the same time, many schools recognize the importance of PLAN testing for all students, as it focuses attention on both career preparation and improving academic achievement.

Typically, PLAN is administered in the fall of the sophomore year. Contact the Central High School and Lake View High School counseling centers for test dates and registration deadlines.

For more information about PLAN, visit the PLAN website.

AP Exams

AP Examinations are administered each year in May and are available to students enrolled in the district's various AP Courses. The AP Exams test students' ability to perform at a college level and offer students the possibility to qualify for college credit.

Exam Information

The AP Exams will be held during the weeks of May 7, 2012 thru May 18, 2012.

A more detailed AP Exam schedule can be found at the CollegeBoard website.

For more information about the AP program, contact Terrie Phillips at (325) 659-3500 x508.
